Customised DC source with an output of 252 kW and 8600 A

For a customer we designed, built and delivered a DC source with an output voltage of 0 - 32 VDC and an output current of 0 - 8600 A with an output power of 252 kW.

The challenge in this project was the contacting of the outputs of the four DC sources used. We used four LAB/HP 6332 laboratory power supplies. Each unit has an output voltage of 0 - 32 VDC and an output current of 0 - 2150 A and a total power of 63 kW. Via the integrated master/slave function, the units were connected in parallel to increase the power and the entire system can be operated as one unit.

The design of the rear busbars, including the centre support to relieve the weight of the individual connections at the outputs of the DC sources, was determined together with the end customer and then implemented by us in the system integration department.

The result was a clean solution for his fuel cell application that convinced our customer.
