Master/slave function for laboratory power supplies

In master/slave mode, several DC sources of theLAB/HP series are connected via the ETS bus. Commercially available USB type A cables are used to connect the individual units. However, the interface is not a USB interface. The interface has two connections connected in parallel. This makes it easy to connect several units in parallel. If several LAB/HP are connected and switched on, each unit is automatically assigned its own address. A symbol at the top right of the display indicates that the units are in M/S mode. Setpoints are forwarded to all connected units via the bus. All parameters can be set on all units. The changes are automatically forwarded to all connected units via the ETS bus. It does not matter whether the setpoints are programmed on the front or via an interface.

M/S mode parallel

The controller assumes that the outputs are connected in parallel. The setpoints are converted accordingly. The displays show the total current as the measured value. The current distribution between the individual LAB/HP is not necessarily symmetrical, but the total current is limited to the set value.

M/S-Mode Serial

The control assumes that the outputs are connected in series. The set values are converted accordingly. The displays show the total voltage as the measured value. The voltage distribution between the individual LAB/HPs is not necessarily symmetrical, but the total voltage is limited to the set value.

The master/slave function gives you a lot of freedom for your applications, as your system grows with your requirements. Whether it is a test bench for motors, a test system for batteries, a test system for solar inverters or applications in the medical field, it does not matter.
